Not a full-blown newsletter, just a quick note to let you know that I finally had surgery on Thursday, took a little time off and feel like it’s time to get back to work. I feel great but I can’t talk and it’s going to take around six weeks of recovery time.
The doctor threw the term “pre-cancer” out there, which really sounds worse than it is. Every growth inside your body, given enough time to cook, will turn into cancer, typically, so yeah, it was in fact “pre-cancer.” But fate or God or a force of the mysterious universe sent me into a doctor’s office after decades to catch whatever the polyp was on my voice box before it turned into something nasty.
After the six weeks, they will do the same procedure again and see if there are any cancerous cells that they need to either remove or use chemotherapy to get rid of.
Maybe i’m just an overly optimistic person but I don’t think it was cancer, it was a legion caused by having several bouts of COVID and being sick and coughing for more than six months.
Anyway, fortunately or unfortunately for you (depending on your perspective), I’m not going anywhere and I feel fantastic except when I talk, so anyone looking for a meeting or a call is just shit out of luck for the foreseeable future.
Finally, I want to thank everyone that sent me a public or private message of good will. Never don’t the healing power of positive energy and reinforcement. I feel needed and valued, and I want you to know that I value you all too.
But enough sappy staff, let’s get back to work! - James Fudge.
PS: It has also been 121 hours, or five days, since I have smoked a cigarette. I have been a smoker for more than 40 years, hence the concerns about cancer. My lungs are clear, my heart is strong, and my head isn’t riddled with tumors…
Here’s some more information on the surgery if you are interested.
